HOUSE OF WILD WOOD WOMAN

A nomadic and independent long-term project exploring contemporary perceptions of nature and the utopian dream of travelling into the wild.

Nyt-profilbillede-1-nov-2010-450-px.jpg

House of Wild Wood Woman embodies a unique blend of a handmade home, a sanctuary for solitude, a mobile forest cabin, and a nomadic museum and gallery — all rolled into one.

Created in the summer of 2010, this project has served as an art-based platform for site-specific events and installations that spark dialogue about our relationship with nature.

House of Wild Wood Woman has been part of various exhibitions and projects such as the forests of southern Sweden (Private View), Ridehuset, Århus, Denmark (The Pioneer Settlers in the Riding House), Rø Plantage, Bornholm, Denmark (Bewildered), Charlottenlund Forest, Denmark (Face Forest), Gallery Koh-I-Noor, Denmark (ManyMini Residency), Institute of Contemporary Arts, Singapore (MacRitchie Me, Turning to be Wildered and Outhing), Winsted Campus, LaSalle College of the Arts, Singapore (#MacRitchie), Raadvad Artist Village, Denmark (På Vildveje / Astray), and latest at Arteles Creative Center, Finland.

House of Wild Wood Woman might be coming to a forest near you soon!

This self-made, octagonal tent is sized to match 'my personal space' and features a high ceiling, with a wooden branch serving as the central support and guy lines tethering it to nearby structures, preferably trees. Crafted from 100% cotton, it stands in contrast to a practical outdoor tent. Rather than being designed for efficiency, it is an evolving, site-dependent structure that relies on the local trees and forest floor for completion.

Creation of House of Wild Wood Woman

Like Henry David Thoreau and Anne la Bastille,

I have three chairs in my House,

one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society.

I am a girl with a gun,

but I am not much of a good shot. I load my (plastic)rifle with dreams and rowan berries, and who knows, some day I might harvest my own bullets in a FOREST of fulfilled DREAMS.
