LEAVE NOTHING BUT FOOTPRINTS

Group exhibition and group residency, L'Observatoire and Starch Art Space, Singapore, 2023.

A 3-month group residency by artists from The Artist Village and guests exploring the theme of “Landscape” through a number of workshops, seminars and site-specific walks. The residency was followed by a group exhibition curated by Isabelle Dejeux at Starch Art Space, Singapore (October 2023).

As part of the exhibition Anne Mølleskov and Eve Tan conducted an interactive walk off the beaten track in the area in which the artist residency was situated, a 140-hectare site comprising old colonial buildings, ‘English countryside’ paddocks, secondary forests, old 'backstage villages', a golf course and a previous racecourse.

The walk aimed to create direct experiences and engagements with the landscape and was a journey ‘on the edge of past, present and future’, as the area was soon after going to be vacated to make way for housing development and a planned new city district with an MRT station.

During the exhibition Mølleskov showcased “Forestic Impuzzle”, a video based on “forestic affairs” and collages of Google Maps satellite images of the forested area of Turf Club.

The exhibition was supported by a grant from National Arts Council Singapore and by l’Observatoire at Blue House, with the venue support of Starch. The paper for the zine and catalogue was sponsored by RJ paper.
